ABOUT ME

Background

I am a High School Biology and APES teacher at Carlmont High School.  I have been a teacher and substitute at multiple schools across the Bay Area.  I attained my undergraduate in both Animal Science and Japanese at the University of California, Davis after which I obtained teaching credentials in both Chemistry and Biology at San Jose State University.  If you want to see some of what I do check out the resources tab.

My Teaching Philosophy

In my mind, all classes (especially science!) should focus on a growth mindset and critical thinking.

Science, and all of learning, only comes through struggle and mistakes.  Learning should be difficult and all of us should fail often and enjoy the mistakes as we learn from them and use that to overcome them.  The focus should be on learning through doing, failing, picking yourself up, and trying again.
